Steel canopy on ballast blocks

Steel frames on concrete blocks, beams and purlins: the structure photographed on site, before the modules were installed.

The project

The site, step by step

Not a rendering: photos taken on site while the steelwork was being assembled.

The yard, made of compacted earth and gravel, lies next to some industrial buildings. A row of steel frames stands on it: each frame rests on concrete blocks, to which the inclined columns are fixed. Longitudinal beams and purlins form a single-pitch roof plane, higher on one side.

The photos show the structure without solar modules: they document the steelwork, not a finished solar plant. On site you can see a telescopic handler, ladders for work at height and profiles waiting to be installed, resting on wooden battens.

What the photos show

Stages ordered by the progress visible in the images.

  1. Frames on ballast Concrete blocks placed on the yard and the first frames assembled, with the profiles still on the ground.
  2. Beams and purlins Longitudinal beams and purlins assembled on top of the frames, forming the inclined roof plane.
  3. Overview The row of frames with the purlin plane complete, seen from above. The modules are not installed yet.
